TOPIC: DO I POSSESS THE CHILDLIKE HUMILITY I NEED TO SEE GOD IN JESUS? First Reading: Exodus 3: 1-6, 9-12 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 103: 1b-2, 3-4, 6-7 Alleluia: Matthew 11: 25 Gospel: Matthew 11: 25-27 In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus began His prayer with praise and acknowledgement of who God is. He spoke directly to His Father, once again revealing the intimacy between them, acknowledging that His Father is the sovereign Lord of all things in heaven and earth. He spoke of things hidden by His Father, and from the context of the readings, these hidden things pointed to the anointment of John the Baptist as the forerunner of the Messiah and to Jesus’ own identity as the Messiah Himself. Jesus contrasts intellectual pride with childlike simplicity and humility. The simple of heart are like "babes" in that they see purely without pretense, and acknowledge their dependence and trust in the one who is greater, wiser, and more trustworthy. This is the 1191st installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Raymond Bucu, Head of the CFC Gateway Evangelization Programs, as he brings us today's reflection.] All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
