25 People Enter a Windowless Room. One by One They Leave. 6 People are Left. NY Medical Malpractice Attorney Gerry Oginski Explains http://www.oginski-law.com/faqs/what-... NY Medical Malpractice & Personal Injury Trial Lawyer 516-487-8207 Email: [email protected] In a car accident case or a medical malpractice case or a wrongful death case in New York, those are usually cases decided by a jury. A jury of our peers. A jury made up of members of the community. Jury selection is really a misnomer. It should be called jury de-selection. Lawyers don't actually go in and pick and choose which jurors they would like to have. Instead, based upon comments and observations made by potential jurors, attorneys have the opportunity to remove certain people from with in a room of potential jurors. After the attorneys have exhausted their chances to remove the jurors that they do not like, they are left with people sitting in the room who have explained that they are fair and unbiased. By the way, you will never find anyone during jury selection to openly admit that they are biased and prejudiced, unless of course they are intentionally trying to get off jury duty. Imagine this scenario... 25 people from the community are brought into a windowless room. Over a span of 20 minutes, 45 minutes or even an hour and a half, one by one, people leave that room. At some point there will be only six people left sitting in that room. This is what jury selection is all about. Watch the video to learn more...
