Isiah Thomas Reveals the Passing of Joe Dumars' Father (1990)

June 10, 1990 - In a pre-arranged decision after Joe Dumars Jr. was forced into intensive care weeks earlier, Pistons guard Joe Dumars III opted that, in the event of his father's death, he would not be told until a game's conclusion. Unfortunately, Dumars lost his father prior to Game 3, coinciding with his best game of the postseason. Dumars scored 33 points, including a rainbow shot that Thomas attributed to Dumars' father.
