01 September Monsoon Update: Skymet Weather

Thick monsoon clouds can be observed over north east Madhya Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, north Bengal and Jharkhand. Assam and Meghalaya will also witness thick cloud cover. The sky will remain cloudy over Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, west Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Even the North Eastern states, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, coastal Konkan, Karnataka and parts of Kerala will experience a cloudy sky. In the plains of North West India, a dry spell has set in. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh and north east Rajasthan may receive some light rain. In the eastern parts, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Sub- Himalayan West Bengal and north Jharkhand will receive few moderate spells. Rain over most parts of Central India is likely to decrease drastically. Only parts of Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh and adjacent Rajasthan may receive moderate spells of rain. The southern peninsula may receive scattered light rain due to discontinuity of winds over the interiors. Coastal Andhra Pradesh might receive some light showers. Temperatures... Starting with North India... The temperature is expected to be near normal in Jammu & Kashmir, parts of Punjab, Haryana and west Rajasthan. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and west Uttar Pradesh will witness temperatures below normal by a couple of degrees. East&North East The Gangetic belt of West Bengal will remain hot and record temperatures above normal by 2 to 3 degrees. While in Bihar and Jharkhand, it will remain near normal. In the North Eastern states, mainly Assam and Meghalaya will be above normal. CENTRAL... In central India temperatures will be below normal by 4 to 6 degrees over Madhya Pradesh and by 2 to 3 degrees over Chhattisgarh. On the other hand, Gujarat will remain above normal by a couple of notches. SOUTH... No significant change will be observed in the southern parts the country. Mercury will be marginally high over the west coast and parts of the southern peninsula.
