Who passing by escapes the snare woven by fate’s cruel hand? Your eyes steal hearts even from those who dwell in shadows. To walk beside you is no sin on our part. Is your face not a mirror of divine grace? Truly so, and there is no deceit in that face. The narcissus seeks the pattern of your eyes—oh, those eyes! The poor one knows nothing in their heart; there is no modesty in their eyes. For God’s sake, do not twist those locks, for us— There is no night without a hundred cries carried by the eastern breeze. Return, for without your face, oh enlightening candle of my heart, In the gathering of companions, there is no trace of light or purity. The care for strangers is born from beautiful remembrance. Beloved, is this not the rule within your city? Yesterday, I said, ‘O idol, renew your vow.’ She said, ‘Mistaken, O master, in this age, there is no faithfulness to vows.’ If the old Magian becomes my guide, what difference does it make? There is no secret in any head that is not from God. What does the lover do if they do not bear the burden of blame? No brave one holds a shield against the arrow of destiny. In the hermitage of the ascetic and in the solitude of the mystic, Nothing but the arch of your brow is a prayer’s sanctuary. O harp plunged into the heart’s blood of Hafez, Is not your thought inspired by the zeal of the Quran and God? 📜 Source (گنجور): https://ganjoor.net/hafez/ghazal/sh69 🕊️ Produced by Echoes Of The Heart 📅 Generated on 2025-11-12 22:58 ❓ Which line of this poem touched your heart the most?
