Wide shot injured policemen on bed STORYLINE: A roadside bomb exploded late on Saturday night next to an Iraqi police patrol in Kirkuk in northern Iraq, injuring eight police officers - three of them critically - police said. The three critically injured policemen were taken to a hospital in Erbil while the other five injured were transferred to Kirkuk General Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile the death toll in the capital Baghdad rose to at least 26 in a day of escalating violence, officials said. Attacks targeting Iraqi security troops have recently escalated with the aim of destabilising Iraq's newly re-formed security services.
