Wide of tanks at scene STORYLINE: A roadside bomb targeting a military convoy exploded in Basra on Saturday, wounding one British soldier, the army said. From the scene of the attack, an eyewitness claimed at least one soldier was killed. "One was killed and another was injured and they have been evacuated," local resident Jassim said. However, British military spokesman Major Charlie Burbridge said one soldier wounded but the injuries were not considered to be life-threatening. Basra is Iraq's second-largest city about 550 kilometres (340 miles) southeast of Baghdad. Most of the 7,200 British soldiers in Iraq are based in Basra.
