Taiwan receives first shipment of 117,000 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines

Taiwan has received its first batch of AstraZeneca vaccines as it prepares to begin its COVID-19 immunisation campaign. The 117,000 doses are part of 10 million secured by the island. Health authorities said medical staff will be the first group of people to receive the jabs. Currently, 310,000 medical staff have priority, so no government officials, including President Tsai Ing-wen, would receive the first shot.
