Meanwhile, many Kazakh are also part of the Russian troop fighting in Ukraine. However, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is was unhappy with his people participating in a foreign war. Tokayev has tried to balance his relations with both the West and Russia. Kazakhstan hosted the C5+1 meeting with the US even as it continues to abstain from UN resolution on Russia.
