1965 Contestants rehearse for the semi-finals of Virginias Junior Miss Pageant

11/12/65 The fourteen contestants in this years Virginias Junior Miss pageant (ROLL FILM) rehearsed their talent presentations at Hotel Roanoke, preparatory to the first real (TAKE FILM) competition, tonight at 8. Three special category winners will be selected in the fields of youth fitness, evening gown--the poise and appearance category--and talent. Seven singers, two dancers, and five other talent presentations will highlight tonights activity. Linda Farmer of Hampton will present a ballet dance routine. Doris Lee Robbins of West Point will present a baton-twirling routine. A spokesman says the clarinet solo--offered ad the talent of Kathryn Dianne Shockley of Dublin--will be the first clarinet presentation in the history of the Virginia Junior Miss Pageant,--now in its sixth year, and sponsored by the Roanoke Jaycettes. Tonights (FILM ROLLING) eight semi-final winners will compete for the title tomorrow night. To the winner will go prizes and a trip Mobile, Alabama next March for "Americas Junior Miss pageant," which will be seen on NBC Television. (LIVE ON)
