1965 Miss Bedford County pageant

05/01/65 Judges had seven finalists from which to select a new Miss Bedford County" in the pageant staged tonight at the Bedford Elementary School auditorium. Swimsuit, evening gown and talent competition featured the event. Among the contestants were 17-year old Carolyn Wilfred Padgett, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Padgett of Route 3, Bedford: a senior at Staunton River High, 21-year old Donna Carolyn Parker daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurston Parker of Bedford, a freshman at Randolph-Macon Womans College; 19-year old Theresa "Terry" Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Thompson, a graduate of Bedford High: and 19-year old Joyce "Joy" Turpin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell C. Turpin of Good, a student nurse at the Medical College of Virginia. Barbara Jean Dove, who is 18, and three other girls rounded out the Competition. Miss Dove, daughter of Mr. and Mr. T. M. Dove of Bedford, is a senior at Liberty High School. 18-year old Barbara Jeanette Orange, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus C. Orange of rural Bedford, (FILM ROLLING) also is a senior at Liberty High, as is 18-year old Janet Marie Woodworth, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker of Bedford. The winner will represent Bedford County in the Miss Virginia Pageant in Roanoke in June. The winner (SHOW PIC) of tonights Miss Bedford County pageant is Theresa "Terry" Thompson.
