Road trip planner Pune – Mayureshwar Wildlife Sanctuary Mayureshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is a small sanctuary of about 5.4 sq. kms in size. It is approximately 66kms from Magarpatta, Pune. Home to Gazelle (Chinkara deer), wild horse, Indian wolf, fox and others. One can also see some migratory and resident birds. Not usually crowded and can be good option for those who enjoy visiting places that are off the beaten track. One of the very few wildlife sanctuaries were you can take your own vehicle and walk around. Since it’s in the plains and with little green cover, it can be pretty warm most of the times. So the best time to visit is between Aug to Feb and preferably in the mornings for better sighting. Remember, we are visiting the home of these animals. We are guests there and must respect their space like we would expect our guests to. Sanctuary offers tented accommodation, but it is not functional currently due to Covid. Timing: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Safety tips: Avoid having an open fire, smoking, loud music or trying to get closer to the animals. Cost of the trip: Fuel cost Entry cost: ₹30 per adult; ₹100 for four wheeler; ₹100 for camera/binocular Food (depends on whether you are carrying it from home or eating from a restaurant) – We ate at this nice restaurant on the way back called Vintage which costed us ₹800 for two persons. We advise you to carry cash as the Sanctuary office does not accept any other mode of payment. Also carry exact tender.
