Exterior of al-Kindi Teaching Hospital STORYLINE Seven car bombs exploded in the Iraqi capital on Monday, killing at least six people and wounding dozens, as politicians met to try to finalise a new Cabinet. Three civilians, including a 10-year-old boy, were killed when bombs hidden in two cars parked near Mustansiriya University - in the Palestine Street neighbourhood of eastern Baghdad - exploded. A further 22 people were wounded in the blasts, including five policemen, according to police. The injured were taken to al-Kindi Teaching Hospital for treatment. The blasts occurred just two hours after another car bomb exploded in Baghdad''s Bab al-Muadim neighbourhood during morning rush hour, killing three people and wounding 25, police said. It blew up on a major street in the centre of the city near the Tigris river, close to a complex of government buildings, a hospital and a bus station. Around noon (0800gmt), a car bomb exploded near a square in Karada, central Baghdad, near a US military convoy, wounding at least 11 civilians, including a young girl, and damaging shops selling car parts, police said. US forces closed off the area, and it was not immediately known if American casualties had resulted. At around 1.15 pm (0915gmt), bombs in two cars parked about 100 metres (yards) apart exploded one after another near Iraqi police patrols in the New Baghdad part of the capital, wounding three policemen and three civilians, according to police. The injured from both blast sites were sent to a local hospital for treatment. A seventh blast was reported at 2:30 p.m (1030 GMT). A car bomb targeted a police patrol in the Mansur area of Baghdad wounding three policemen and four civilians, said police. Footage of that incident was not yet available.
