This turned out to be one of the most exciting Dark Souls III sessions that I had as of yet! Oceiros, The Consumed King... what a guy huh? Stumbling into his boss room felt like taking a wrong turn at 2AM and ending up into a shady back alley with some Arkham Asylum crackhead banshee. xD At first, he was giving off those iconic villain vibes with that cool sounding monologue, calling us 'Ignorant Slaves' and what not. By the midway point I already felt uneasy, while trying to piece together his tragic mumblings and callouts to his beloved Ocelotte. But when he started foaming at the mouth and charging at me like a rabid dog, It felt like all hell broke loose. :D In the end I want to speculate that his child Ocelotte probably died after birth, leading Oceiros to fall into deep grief that eventually resulted in him becoming deranged. At this point It seems that in Fromsoftware games it is a common theme that anyone obsessed with pursuing power of dragons (immortality in it's ultimate form) ends up insane, mutated, or both. Even remembering Seath himself, ending up with star fish legs and everyone who fell victim to his experiments following suit. I guess at least he had the decency to stay on his feet unlike Oceiros who seemingly was on the verge of losing all sense of self and turning into mindless rampaging beast. I am still surprised by how arduous Gundyr's boss fight proved to be after he got a simple speed buff. I absolutely loved this prime version, even though I got infuriated by getting beat by the same guy who I previously bested so easily. For whoever has not yet faced him, I would advise to use that little dopamine rush that gets you hyper focused when first facing a new enemy, and just hacking at him as quickly as you can. When I took a look at that second attempt which was the closest I got to beating him for a long while, it seems like I was not worrying about getting hit all that much and just striking him at every opportunity. Taking it slow and trying to avoid all of his attacks actually ended up being detrimental to my chances of killing him. Since the more time you spend locked in combat with somebody the more chances there are for you to mess up. And this guy using such quick successive attacks more often than not did not let you get a clean hit on him anyway. Surprisingly looking back at the final attempt when I got the best of him, I actually got tagged much more than when I started. Absolutely loved how mysterious it felt to realise that Firelink Shrine is all empty and abandoned. P.s. - I really hope that by giving eyes to the Firekeeper I did not sentence every other NPC to a certain death. Next episode - • ELDEN RING enjoyer tries DARKS SOULS III (...
