Is it just me or is the amount of boss fights encounters way to scarce in Dark Souls III? Do not get me wrong I do have a passion for exploration, as you can probably tell by the lengthy sessions I spend in each area. But for all those playthrough hours we actually ain't got that many spent on bosses. It could also be that the same old problem I was encountering in the previous games is rearing it's ugly head again. That being - Me getting way to formidable from all the recourses I collect while trying to do full clears of areas. Best example of that was probably when we squared off against The Abyss Watchers. The hyped up fight ending so abruptly, before I even got a chance to learn second phase attacks was just lame. Of course I could just go to that Lothric Castle area behind Dancers boss room and probably have a hard time there. But that would only render other areas to be even more easier to traverse afterwards. So I'll probably think about some level-up restrictions for next episodes, because I simply crave for more time spent duking it out with bosses. The Old Demon King boss fight was not too shabby. And the overall design of his many attacks was fun to avoid. You can clearly see where they got the blueprint for Rykards second phase opening in Elden Ring. Thankfully this guy actually fought back unlike those two previous Fire Demons that we encountered. Those guys for some reason were almost not throwing any attacks and were way to easy to kill for how fearsome they looked. I do feel a bit mournful for the old guy since he was the last living being from the time when chaos prospered in Lost Izalith. And it seems like the whole civilization once known as Izalith has become a place that time forgot. Everything that it once was has been reduced to rubble with remnants of it's citizens near their last breath. They who yet remain are targets for extermination, hence why the few who yet live have fled underground. The giant ballista contraption stationed uphill is a constant reminder of certain death for whoever dares to attempt fleeing their burrows. And it is here were the last two Daughters of Chaos found their final resting place by each others side. I really like to entertain the theory which somebody presented in regards to Smouldering Lake being previously known as Ash Lake. Seems as a valid explanation for the familiar giant trees which we can also notice off in the distance inside of humongous cavern when we enter the area. It might be that by land simply shifting over the millenniums Lost Izalith ended up getting merged with Ash Lake. Something more radical might have been the cause but as far as I know there are no mentions of this. Now Irythill better deliver on the action part because it sure seems like that is where it is at. Having fought two Irythill prospects before gives me confidence that we are about to have a blast. That is if the two big shots of the city do not decide to roach out on me. The gluttonous Aldrich has already proven to be as sleazy as a rat, fleeing at the first sign of peril. And it also seems like Pontiff Sulyvahn is not the type to step out onto the scene while his many pawns still draw breath. Having tested the city guards mettle I somehow get the suspicion that it might prove that getting to them is gonna be harder than actually slaying them.
