ELDEN RING enjoyer tries DARKS SOULS III (Playthrough Part.5)
Maaan, taking the first glances at the Farron Keeps's swampy mangrove forest sure brought back the lingering PTSD of Blighttown and Swamp Of Aeonia. Thankfully they have dialed back on the swamp poison potency allowing you to actually explore the area without worrying about managing your healing flasks to much. On the other hand it looks like they are letting loose on terrifying looking creature designs in Dark Souls III. Those wing sprouting, screechers and tree trunk carrying Wendigos are straight up nightmare fuel. And as far as I have seen they are not even half as bad as what awaits you if you embark on the hunt in Bloodborne. But all in all the clearing the area was not as frustrating as I expected. Now The Abyss Watchers boss fight was not exactly what I had imagined from what I had previously seen over the years. My assumption was that they would one by one continuously keep getting up and joining the fight against you. So it would become somewhat a race against time before you get overwhelmed. I had no Idea that there even was a second phase or that you would get a somewhat of a teammate. I do not dislike the idea of this approach but I personally craved for a somewhat of a Royal Rumble style of mayhem. 3 Enemies at a time is not really a legion. I am not saying that I did not like the fight, on the contrary it was glorious and I wanted to experience that exciting battle state for longer. Later on while I exploring I was also wondering, who is this Carthus individual in who's Catacombs we barged in, and if we will be able to fight him. Turns out it's no person at all but a kingdom in desert. That sure reminds me of Warhammer Fantasy lore and Tomb Kings factions to be exact. As far as I remember from what I read on Items, Wolnir bested all other nearby kingdoms and their respective rulers unifying the lands thus gaining the title High Lord. Apparently he aspired to gain eternal life but that endeavour ultimately led to him falling into Abyss where his might proved vain. Not much to say about the fight it self, other than how similar it felt to Gravelord Nito's boss fight. As for Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, I am positively worried for what awaits us there.
