ONTARIO PEAK | Snow Hike 2021 | Southern California

Ontario Peak is one of the classic climbs of Southern California. it is named for the town of Ontario which in turn was named by the founding Chaffey brothers for their home province of Ontario, Canada. The easiest way to the summit is to ascend the Icehouse Canyon Trail, then turn southwest and hike up Kelly Camp along the long ridge to the summit. The north side of the ridge can be deceptively icy in early summer and after the first storms of the fall. When you reach the Icehouse Saddle in 3.5 miles, turn star[ply right and hike for about a mile to Kelly Camp. This trail camp used to be a backcountry resort in 1922. ).4 mile from there you will set foot at the ridge with breathtaking views of the Cucamonga Canyon down b;eow into the Inland Empire. In another 1.2 miles you will reach the 8,693-foot summit, which is readily recognizable by granite spire. I would like to thank Adam, Scott and Oksana for coming along to this beautiful hike.
