There are two main methods to training our balance. One is one leg exercises. The other is squatting exercises, one of which I will share today. I have already shared one exercise in which you kick your open hands held up above your head with Mae geri. That was from the standing position. The exercise today is to do the same from the squatting position, which requires much balance. The ready position is simple; first squat down. Then, hold both open hands up above your head height. There are two methods here too. One is the easier one which I demonstrate in the video. You kick your right hand with your right foot and left hand with your left foot. The more challenging one is to kick the opposite side hand. When you are familiar and good at the easier one, you can try the challenging one, which will require more balancing ability. After kicking, be sure to step forward. Then, kick the other side and also step forward. Basically, you will do a duck walk with Mae geri in each step. Do minimum 10 kicks per set. I recommend that you will do 3 to 5 sets per work out. By the way, Mae geri is the easiest one. There are two other kicks exercises from squatting position; Yoko ke-age 横蹴上げ and Mawashi geri 回し蹴り. They certainly require much more balancing act. I have not asked the seminar participants with those more challenging kicks up to now. I think I will start incorporating them in the seminars this year (2023).
