When you want to use a throwing technique in your Kumite, 1) Deliver a punch or an eye jab right before you try to throw 2) Get your hip level lower than that of the opponent so that he will be off balanced. Be sure to use the legs and the hip rotation to throw the opponent. If you rely only on the arms power, it will be very difficult, especially if the opponent is much heavier than you. You need to get him off balanced and use the strong parts of your body. Note: What I demonstrated is similar to Ippon seoi 一本背負い in Judo 柔道. There are other throwing methods such as Ashibarai 足払い, foot sweep. I also did not demonstrate a finish technique after a throw. In a real situation including a demonstration, a kumite or a street fight, you must follow up immediately with a finish technique, such as a punch or a kick to the death points, typically the head area. If you are a senior (high dan rank) practitioner, you should learn and practice them to compliment your Kumite technique repertoire.
