Squat exercise #2: Mae geri to kick hands of opposite sides: Ecuador 2017 seminar

Asai ryu karate: 浅井流空手・蹲踞姿勢運動その弐・前蹴りで反対側の手を蹴る・エクアドル講習会 This popular exercise among the Asai karate practitioners requires both flexibility, balance and core muscles. You can remain at the same place, but I recommend that you will take a step forward after each kick. This extra movement will present an additional challenge in balancing. The minimum kicks should be ten with each leg or twenty all together. Initially; 1) The speed of moving forward is not important but eventually you want to increase the speed to show the better mobility and balance. 2) You can hold the hands at your shoulder height. Eventually, you want to bring them up higher than your face or head. Two must dos: Keep the body in squat position level when you kick. Kick the hand of the opposite side, i.e. left foot to right hand. If you kick the same side, your kick will end up outward and off the center line. You want to keep the foot inward as you kick. This is the entry level. After mastering this, you will need to advance to Yoko geri and Mawashi geri from squat position.
