Boxer Urges Colleagues to Pass Much-Needed Transportation Bill (February 16, 2012)

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, urged Senate colleagues to drop unrelated provisions on a much-needed transportation reauthorization bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21). The Senate voted 85-11 on February 10 to proceed to debate on the bill. Senators Boxer and Committee Ranking Member James Inhofe (R-OK) worked together with their EPW Committee colleagues to develop this legislation, which maintains funding at current levels. The bipartisan measure passed unanimously in the EPW Committee on November 9, 2011. The current transportation authorization expires on March 31, 2012.
