Boxer's Opening Floor Remarks on EPW's Transportation Bill, MAP-21 (February 9, 2012)

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, spoke on the Senate floor in support of the Committee's two-year surface transportation bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21). The Senate later voted to proceed with debate on the bill. The final vote was 85-11. Senators Boxer and Committee Ranking Member James Inhofe (R-OK) worked together with their EPW Committee colleagues to develop this legislation, which maintains funding at current levels. The bipartisan measure passed unanimously in the EPW Committee on November 9, 2011. The current transportation authorization expires on March 31, 2012.
