Classic TV Theme: Whispering Smith (Audie Murphy)

This 1961 Western had the misfortune of being the centerpiece of a Senate subcommittee investigation of violence and juvenile delinquency. It focused on episode two, which featured several shootings, a rape charge, and more (the guest star was a young Robert Redford). The committee was scandalized, and the network was so cowed that it eventually yanked the program without showing the last six episodes. The show had two different opening sequences, and two different pieces of music over the closing credits; it is all credited to Richard Shores.
