Covenant shooting survivors; Exclusive interview with Covenant mom

FOX 17 News was the first to sit down one-on-one with a Covenant School mom whose two children were inside the school during that tragic day that took six lives. Becky Hansen has a five and 10-year-old. They were both inside The Covenant School during those terrifying moments. A month later, Becky says this all still feels so surreal and she remembers the pain every single day. Just after Becky received the call that an active shooter was at The Covenant School, she didn’t know if her children were alive. Fortunately, her son, Barrett, and daughter, Alex, both survived. But the trauma is still very much present in the family. “The school was very well protected and very well trained and that is the only reason why there were not significantly more casualties that day," says Becky. "That and the amazing quick and swift response of the Metro Nashville PD who we will be forever indebted to." Hansen is part of a non-partisan group called Voices for Safer Tennessee, a call for what they believe are common sense and reasonable gun laws.
