The debate continues on what measures to take in order to keep our children safe in our local schools in the wake of a tragic shooting at The Covenant School. Councilmember Courtney Johnston proposed a resolution to direct Metro Police to review school safety plans at Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS). Those recommendations would then go out to the general public. However, the resolution was shot down in a city council meeting on Tuesday night. This brought confusion to some parents last night. “I just I really don't understand it at all," says MNPS parent Catherine Echerd. This decision also raised questions for Councilmember Johnston.
