చెన్నై మైలాపూర్ కపాలీశ్వర స్వామి ఆలయం | Chennai Mylapore Kapaleeswara Swamy Temple
తమిళనాడులోని శైవ క్షేత్రాల్లో చెన్నై నగరంలోని మైలాపూర్ కపాలీశ్వర్ ఆలయం చాలా ప్రసిద్ధి. మైలాపూర్ కి తిరుమయిలై అని కూడా పేరు. ఇక్కడ ఉన్న పుష్కరిణి చెన్నై మహా నగరానికి ఒక ముఖ్యమైన లాండ్ మార్క్. ఈ ఆలయంలో ప్రధాన దైవం పేరు- కపాలీశ్వరుడు, అమ్మవారి పేరు కర్పగాంబాళ్. నెమలి రూపంలో పార్వతి దేవి శివుని గురించి ఘోర తపస్సు చేసిన ఈ ప్రాంతానికి ‘మైలాపురం’ అని పేరు. అందుకే “మైలైయే కైలై - కైలైయే మైలై” అని హితోక్తి, అంటే “మైలాపురమే కైలాసం - కైలాసమే మైలాపురం” అని అర్థం. The name of the main deity in the temple is Kapaleeswarar and the name of the Goddess is Karpagambal.
