Parliament celebrates 25 years since the end of the Troubles

Signed on 10 April 1998, the Good Friday Agreement put an end to 30 years of conflict in Northern Ireland, known as the Troubles. The agreement is based on cooperation between communities and has played a significant role in creating mutual trust and restoring peace. In the wake of the UK's withdrawal from the EU, the country's respect for its international commitments is essential for the continued functioning of the Good Friday Agreement. At the same time, the European Parliament is dedicated to ensuring the fair application of the UK's withdrawal agreement and the protection of the rights of European citizens.
