25 years of the Good Friday Agreement

Signed on 10 April 1998, the Good Friday Agreement put an end to 30 years of conflict in Northern Ireland, known as the Troubles. Celebrating the anniversary, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said the deal “has instilled harmony between people” and transformed people’s lives in Ireland. There were few examples in history of a “peoples’ peace agreement”, she added during a ceremony held by the Parliament on 29 March.
