Excellent Left Hand Drumming with Drum Solo-Ken Loomer Big Band

One of the parts of my drumming I worked on for a long time is my left hand. Great drummers like Buddy Rich,Joe Morello,Dave Weckl,and Jeff Hamilton know how to use left hand technique to make the music more exciting.With my Ken Loomer Big Band,I use my left hand to dance to the music and to drive the band when needed. On this great chart arranged by Gordon Goodwin of Watermelon Man, I use a hard shuffle beat with my left hand to drive the band on my classic Slingerland drums.When it`s time for my drum solo,I use a lot of fast single stroke left hand playing to give it a nice flow to my solo. Thanks to my great musicians,I`m able to play exciting charts like this and keep the sound of a roaring Big Band alive.
