YIELDING TO THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Sunday 14th July 2024- First Service John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. John 16:12-13 "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth;... Our greatest help comes to us when we yield to the Holy Spirit. He is our helper and every kind of help that we need is in Him. In *Genesis 1:26-28*, God created man and blessed him and out of that blessing came five assignments: fruitfulness, multiplication, filling the earth, subduing it and having dominion. Every believer is expected to manifest these five dimensions of the blessing but it is only possible when we yield to the Holy Spirit. The help of the Holy Spirit is best seen when we are conscious of our disability. That is why the scripture says; Likewise the Spirit also HELPS IN OUR WEAKNESSES. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought,.... Romans 8:26 Though it focuses on prayer, prayer is just one of the many weaknesses that we have as human beings. God loves us so much that He came to live inside us in the person of the Holy Spirit but for us to enjoy His help, we need to be conscious of our inabilities and weaknesses and entirely depend on Him. In 2 Corinthians 12:8-10, Apostle Paul was aware of His weaknesses and inadequacies and they pushed him to receive the help of God. John 5:19 Jesus admitted that He was helpless without the Father; He lived for thirty years as the carpenter's son but when He was baptized and the Holy Spirit came upon Him, He was led by the Holy Spirit from that day hence forth. Luke 4:1 You can't be led unless you accept and yield yourself to the person leading you. Wherever the Holy Spirit leads you is the best place to be. We all have natural advantages but as believers, we don't use them by default; it is only with the permission of the Holy Spirit. Remember, it is not by power nor by might but by the Holy Spirit. John 2 Jesus had been invited like any other normal guest at the wedding. Help was available but it was until they realized that they needed it that they were able to tap into it. In Genesis 3:21, God was able to dress Adam and Eve with tunics instead of leaves because they admitted they were naked.
