Ontario sending nurses to short-staffed hospitals and long-term care homes – January 11, 2022

Christine Elliott, Ontario’s minister of health, provides an update on the province’s health system capacity amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. She is joined by Matthew Anderson, the CEO of Ontario Health. The province is working with the College of Nurses of Ontario to deploy over 700 internationally trained nurses to hospitals and long-term care facilities facing staffing shortages. Responding to questions from reporters, Minister Elliott comments on the province’s plan for students to return to in-person learning on January 17.
