RBI likely to announce guidelines for one-time restructuring of COVID-19 impacted loans

The Reserve Bank of India is likely to announce the guidelines for a one-time restructuring of COVID-19 impacted loans today. The K.V Kamath Committee's deadline to submit recommendations to the RBI was September 6. ET Now learns from sources that the committee may have focused on 6 sectors that have been largely impacted by the COVID-19 induced lockdown. These sectors may include steel, auto, and real estate. The committee is known to have formulated the recommendations after consultation with 12 banks, various industry organizations, and credit rating agencies. The RBI had permitted for a one-time restructuring of loans without classifying them as NPAs in its policy announcement.
