Swinging Ken Loomer Big Band Plays In A Mellow Tone

As one of the rare drummer Big Band leaders today, I learned so much from drummer Big Band leader Buddy Rich. He always picked great arrangers to write for his swinging Big Band like Oliver Nelson who did this great arrangement of In A Mellow Tone. Of course you need to hire the best musicians who can sight read and have the right feel for doing these type of charts. Doing the wonderful trumpet solo is my good friend Tom Parmerter. Buddy Rich was always about the music first, and he demanded his musicians to give 100% to the music. I must say my musicians do the same thing. With me driving the Big Band behind my classic Slingerland drums, I get to support my fellow musicians in playing these great arrangements. Like Buddy, I`m always looking for the best arrangers for my Big Band to play that are exciting and what I know the people will enjoy hearing.
