Angelina Jolie addresses UN General Assembly

Actress, director and Special Envoy to the United Nations Angelina Jolie addressed the General Assembly on Friday, shining a light on the rights of women and girls in conflict zones around the world. "There can be no peace and stability in Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world that involves trading away the rights of women. Worse still, we see impunity for crimes committed against women and girls during conflict. Or when women human rights defenders are attacked or killed or imprisoned," Jolie told the members. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees appointed Jolie to the role of special envoy in 2012.
