Trails to Azure (Geofront Patch): Sigmund Fight Nightmare

No commento Just kidding. At first, I thought this fight was impossible to win with the tools I had available (I didn't have two Mind 2 quartz or Still Blues to pump ATS), but I put my head to it and managed to do it. Figuring this fight out was very satisfying and now, after seeing how other people did the fight, I feel like this is the intended solution to win under the time restriction on this difficulty on a New Game. Physical damage is pathetic, so you have to go for Artes and, even then, have enough DPS to win the fight. This is where Jupiter Bell comes in. You NEED Jupiter Bell. If you don't have it, you simply can't deal enough DPS in the time you have available. Even with it, you need a dedicated team member to pump Fortuna to boost ATS (Randy is obviously best for this since physical damage is near useless) and an evasion tank to draw Sigmund away from your casters (Lloyd is obviously best for this) while lowering his ADF with Cobalt Sphere. If Sigmund takes even one of your casters down, there isn't enough time to salvage the fight to win in the time limit. I didn't have perfect evasion, but 90% is plenty as Lloyd can generally take a hit and the odds favor him having a chance to heal. If he goes down, pop Elie's S craft immediately to get him back up and, even though it delays her, there's still a chance you can win. Zero Field is needed to block Sigmund's S craft, which otherwise will 1-shot. He will always Ogre Cry before it, basically signaling you when to activate it (which is another reason I think this fight is actually pretty brilliant on this difficulty: it's a puzzle that forces you to apply all the tools and game knowledge at your disposal if you want to win in the time limit) With this basic set-up all that's left is formation. I experimented with a lot of different ones and this one ended up as the most reliable way of keeping Sigmund on Lloyd. Now, even with this there is still luck involved. If Sigmund decides to run up to your back row at the start of the fight, it's very likely that, even if you suck him away on Lloyd's turn, he'll attack the back row again and kill them. You want one of two things to happen as the beginning sets the tone for the fight: 1. Sigmund attacks Lloyd at the start and whiffs. 2. Sigmund stays in place and attacks Lloyd and another team member (what happened to me). As long as he does not move past Lloyd, you can suck him to the far end of the battlefield where his movement cannot put him in reach to attack the rest of your team. To do this Lloyd needs a MOV2 quartz as the evasion shoes don't give him enough movement on their own. The reason I gave Tio Axe is so she could cast Crimson Ray as, through experimenting, that ended up doing more damage than anything else. Sadly, to get that I couldn't fit an Action 2 on her so she doesn't get so many turns in this fight, but that's okay. Elie's the real star here with Jupiter Bell and spamming Spark Dyne. Tio just provides extra artes damage where she can. Really, so long as you can get Sigmund away at the start, with this set-up (and skipping all animations) this is a reliable means of winning. You can, of course, get unlucky and have Lloyd get hit at 90% evasion twice and lose the fight or if Sigmund uses his S craft and Zero Field isn't charged yet (just depends how many turns pass with Gladiator Belt on Tio before he does). The game gets pretty crazy after this, so expect more videos to come.
