Aftermath of shelling, buildings on fire

(14 Feb 2015) At least two buildings in the government-controlled eastern Ukrainian town of Artemivsk were damaged and one caught fire on Saturday after they came under shelling. Firefighters were seen at the scene tackling the blaze. Artemivsk lies 40 kilometres (25 miles) behind the frontline and until yesterday it had been spared the violence engulfing Ukraine's rebellious southeast. A ceasefire is supposed to come into effect at midnight on Saturday but the last two days have seen an intensification in the fighting as Russian-backed separatists make a push for the key town of Debaltseve, just southeast of Artemivsk.
