If you are a recipient of SSI (Supplemental Security Income), SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance), VA (Veterans Affairs), or receive RRB Railroad Retirement benefits you may not have received your stimulus check. "Get My Payment Tool". This is the tool the IRS created to allow Americans to check the status of their stimulus check. https://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof-wmsp/login Update Direct Deposit Information In addition, they have now added the ability to receive direct deposit information for those that weren't set up for direct deposit previously "Non-filer IRS Tool": https://www.freefilefillableforms.com... Last Friday the Treasury Department and the IRS told us that over 88 million payments have already gone out worth almost $158 billion However, that also means that 60 million people still hadn't received their checks. May 5th to Report Dependents - if you haven't claimed any dependents under the age of 17, you must claim them before you file taxes for the 2019 year to get the extra $500 of stimulus money. Unfortunately for many people that need it the most still haven't received their checks. The good news... payments are automatic for those that are receiving Social Security retirement, survivor or disability, or Supplemental Security Income (SSI). As well as those receiving VA benefits or Railroad Retirement Benefits. So if receive benefits from one of those programs, your money should be coming soon. A treasury spokeswoman said recently that social security, survivor and disability non-filers will see their stimulus payments in their accounts by April 29th. SSI (Supplemental Security Income) non-filers should begin seeing payments in early May. Veterans benefit recipients should also begin receiving their stimulus payments by early May, a Treasury spokeswoman said." So enter your information as soon as possible to the "Get My Payment" tool, which I have a link in the description below. If you weren't required to file taxes in 2018 or 2019, there is also a tool for "Non-Filers" and I have a link in the description below for that as well. If you have tried the IRS tools in the past and they gave you troubles, you need to try them again. Over the past few days they have made significant updates to their tools and many people that weren't receiving statuses on their payments before are receiving them now. There is a deadline each week to enter your direct deposit information. You need to enter your information before noon on Tuesday to receive a payment date by the following Saturday. If you don't get your bank information in before noon Tuesday, you will need to wait another week to get a payment date. If you are a recipient of SSI or VA benefits and didn't have to file a tax return in 2018 or 2019, and you have a dependent, you must fill out the non-filer tool on the IRS's website before May 5th to receive the extra $500 of stimulus money for that dependent. That May 5th deadline is only if you haven't claimed a dependent before and you also weren't required to file your taxes in 2018 or 2019. If you are a non-filer and you don't have any dependents, your check or direct deposit will come automatically without you doing anything. Social Security and Railroad Retirement Benefits recipients who aren't required to file taxes already missed the deadline of April 17th to claim a $500 dependent credit. If you are one of those that missed the deadline, you will need to wait a year to receive that extra $500 credit for each child dependent you have. There are some senators that sent a letter to the IRS last week asking that this be changed, but as of now nothing has changed on that timeline.
