We celebrate today the Feast of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is often mistaken to be the Blessed Mother’s virgin birth of Jesus or the Incarnation of Jesus Christ itself. To refresh, the incarnation of Jesus is the conception of Jesus in the womb of our Blessed Mother, Jesus being of divine nature and becoming human through her. This feast is all about commemorating Mary’s having been conceived by Anna, her mother, in a state free from sin because she will become the mother of Jesus. God exempted her from the original sin that we all inherited from Adam and Eve. This is based partly on the words of the angel Gabriel to Mary in Luke 1:28, “Hail, full of grace.” This is the 245th installment of our CFC quarantine contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
