How does he train first step quickness? With quickness drills that emphasize two quickness qualities: 1) positional quickness and 2) ground contact quickness. In this drill I demonstrate one of the progressions I use in improving a players first step explosiveness by using a 5-step drill sequence. This teaches the player to first improve their technique and then teaches them to blend that technique with on-court explosiveness with a ball in their hands.
