On June 27, 2023, Tara Fritz was involved in a motor vehicle accident when she conducted an improper left-hand turn and struck another vehicle headed south. Tara's daughter was in the backseat of the vehicle at the time of the accident. Ms. Fritz's brother arrived on the scene and took the child into his care after Ms. Fritz refused to go to the hospital for both her and her daughter. Police noticed the smell of alcohol on Ms. Fritz's breath. She claimed that she did not have anything to drink that night, but after being told that officers could smell alcohol on her breath, she changed her answer to one drink. Ms. Fritz was unable to complete any of the field sobriety tests. She failed every test and wasn't able to follow instructions given by the officer. Ms. Fritz was taken back to police headquarters and provided a breath sample. Her BAC was 0.18%.
