Israeli aircraft struck four more times in Gaza, the army said, killing one Hamas militant. The military said two of the targets were Hamas and Islamic Jihad weapons factories. Palestinians said one was a cement factory and the other was a house. On Sunday night, the Israeli air force fired a missile at the home of Hamas lawmaker Khalil al-Haya in Gaza City, killing eight people and injuring 13. Khalil al-Haya, who was not at home, was unharmed. All the dead and wounded were relatives and neighbours, his wife said whilst Hamas said two of the dead were militants. It was the deadliest attack since Israel started responding to rocket salvoes from Gaza last week. On Sunday the Israeli government decided to step up military action aimed at the two main Islamic militant groups in Gaza. A number of civilians have been killed by Israel in the sustained wave of aristrikes over the past few days. A Hamas spokesman condemned the attacks. "We condemn the military operations against our citizens in Gaza. We think that this is a constant policy which is approved by the Israeli government which will try now to enter Gaza in the bloodshed and the chaos and try to create victims everywhere," Ghazi Hamad said. In the meantime, several rockets exploded in the battered town of Sderot, causing damage but no serious injuries. One destroyed a popular Indian restaurant in a nearby village at nightfall. Israeli tanks and soldiers were gathered at the Israeli-Gaza border on Monday morning as the current cycle of violence, which began with internecine Palestinian fighting and rocket fire aimed at Israeli targets, appears to have drawn the Jewish state in.
