The blaze inside the old Clarendon Suites took hold just before 4am as the first call was received at 03:57. 10 Fire engines, a hydraulic platform and teams from West Midlands Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) attended the inferno which was contained to the insides of the building. Firefighters are expected to stay at the property throughout the day and Clarendon Road is currently closed to traffic.
