Portions of Southeast Louisiana could see 4-6 inches of rainfall from Marco that can cause flash flooding, and coastal areas may see 4-6 feet of storm surge along with hurricane-force winds near the landfall location. Mandatory evacuation orders are already in place for some community. If you are under an evacuation order, please listen to local officials and act in accordance with orders for your safety. Tropical Storm Laura is also active, beginning to move over Cuba right now. Laura will move over or near most of Cuba and emerge over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico Monday evening. Although the intensity forecast is still quite uncertain, it is increasingly likely and forecasted that Laura will become a significant hurricane while in the Gulf of Mexico early this week. the exact landfall along the US Gulf Coast isn't certain quite yet, but all residents from the Florida Keys where a tropical storm watch is in place to Texas should monitor developments with the storm very closely. The current forecast calls for a likely landfall near the Texas and Louisiana border, where impacts including 6-10 inches of rainfall, significant storm surge, and powerful hurricane-force winds are possible. In the Western Pacific Basin, Typhoon Bavi is strengthening over the East China Sea and is expected to impact the Korean peninsula this week as a major typhoon. Gale warnings are starting to come into effect off the shores of South Korea, with warnings likely to extend tomorrow.
