My first bando video at Woburn Bando! FPV in the iFlight Chimera4 and a little DJI FPV *noob alert*
Bando: Short for "Abandoned", meaning a vacant, disused and often dilapidated property that is using suitable for insalubrious activities.....(I just made that up) I had heard rumours, there was a local "bando" not far from me, often frequented by the local FPV community. I had to see it, despite being a newbie and relatively bad at flying drones, certainly compared to my FPV heroes like Botgrinder, and Vanover, and the Oracle of FPV, Joshua Bardwell. Anyway clearly, I had watched many YouTube videos by FPV celebrities, and I even made some bad videos of my own. I was ready for this, lol, or so I thought! I took the closest things I had to "real" FPV freestyle drones (no comments about mines being 4" not 5" ok ;) and went on a mission to find the much lauded Woburn Bando, aka some old warehouse in the woods near Woburn Sands. This resulted in a lot of fun, but also crashing both of my Chimera 4s (thankfully without major damage) and climbing a tree at the end to recover the 2nd one, (which I also lost the DVR of the crash on somehow). Now for racing driver (I mean pilot) excuses, I also seemed to suffer with a lot of bad handling on the iFlight Chimera4 (wobbles and throbbles, probably needed props and a tune on the F7 in there, which I just did in real life, well the tune is TBD), as well as my amateur piloting. The Chimera4 was never intended for acro FPV but I am determined to settle on a 4" platform of some sort for "freestyle". Looking forward to the Rekon4 FR. The DJI FPV is quite cool, but handles weird, and is very fragile. It feels like you are partially piloting it compared to an F4/F7 based DIY quad. Again I need to try acro mode on it soon, but I want to be able to actually fly acro first! I am waffling now....Oh well, next time at bando I will probably take a whoop! The Beta85 and Eachine Trashcan or another mobula clone would be ideal here. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Specs of my 4" Quadcopters: Quad 1: iFlight Chimera4 "Mamba" is the one in this video. It has 3300KV 1404 Xing Motors and a Mamba Mini F405 Stack with the iFlight SucceX 800mw VTX on the X Frame. Quad 2: iFlight Chimera "Beast" which has 4700Kv 1404 Xing Motors and an iFlight Beast F7 AIO 40A with Matek 800mw VTX on the Deadcat version of the Chimera4 Frame. I fly with a mixture of batteries and the best for freestyle are of course LIPOs, in these flights I would have been using 3S 800Mah or 4S 1400Mah - but I like LION packs for flight time and range. TX is Radiomaster TX16S with the TBS Crossfire Module. TBS Nano on the quads. Analog goggles I am using are Eachine EV800D, but of course I now have DJI FPV Goggles v2, most of the reason I bought the FPV quad. Soon I will upgrade my Chimera4s to Caddx Vista or similar.
