Pike Angling on Lough Erne during Storm Ciara Vlog no 17

Well the day started off OK I guess until I seen a car upside down on its roof in the ditch and emergency services doing their thing, so that delayed me a bit. Getting to Pike up the future angling superstar Jake and his house is dark no lights on I phone knock the door then make a move, further delays. Meet up with Cecil in Lisnaskea then make our way to the fishery the lough is grumbling the wind is giving it the whole calm before the storm thing. Lough Erne can be a bloody intimidating place when the weather turns against you. Now vlog no 16 I was in a storm but that was like having your testicles tickled by the gods in comparison to what today threw at us. First time ever the rod pod blew over, the stage stands that we're screwed onto the wooden jetty started being pushed over pulling the screws out. I put the rod pod anchor feet on and screwed the pod onto the deck, so rod pod is solid not moving great I thought then the rods blew off the pod, pulled out the Nash butt grips and out the Delkim Txi with snag ears on. Like I said a first for everything, the firsts weren't to stop like a Dave Lumb BB350 rod and Shimano 10000 reel blow across the carpark thankfully no damage occurred. So it became a case of throw everything in the van and Di Di Mau before things got worse. They did get worse pulling into the park where I live I saw a dog take the same shit three times. So back in the safety of my apartment and its gear review time, the fox Halo Power 96k. Initial thoughts this is heavy a 3kg power pack but the specs are impressive so let's road test the bugger to see how it goes! Expensive at a RRP of £209 but as usual ebay the bugger and you'll find a bargain. So another blank for the vlog this is becoming a bad thing I don't like blanking, until the next time tight lines folks. Pike Fishing Tackle, this is a small run down of where I get my Pike Fishing Equipment. If you see me using something and the description isn’t here, then ask me and I’ll let you know. The Rods for bait fishing I use are BB350 12’ 3.5lb tc & D-3 13’ 4lb tc these are made by Dave Lumb of DLST http://www.dlst.co.uk/index.html Mr Lumb is a artist when it comes to building fishing rods if you’re in the market for a rod built to your own desires then Dave is your man. Reels I tend to stick with Shimano Reels as I trust them, I use a few different models of Shimano Reel for Pike fishing from Big Pits to Bait Runners. I get my bait oils, AFW Bleeding Leader Wire and terminal tackle from Eddie Turner https://www.eddieturner.co.uk/ Eddies Oil is simply the best there’s nothing that comes close to it in my humble opinion. He’s also a great font of knowledge and published author I have lost count of the times I’ve annoyed him for ideas on rigs and how best to fish certain locations. I use happily recommend two Dead Bait bait companies one is Nev Fickling’s Lucebait’s http://www.thetackle-shop.co.uk/secti... the other is Scotland’s finest Gadda Baits http://www.gaddabaits.com/ both are excellent. I happily recommend the tackle shop Fishing Tackle & Bait, https://www.fishingtackleandbait.co.uk/ in Enniskillen Northern Ireland. It’s my local shop it’s the sort of place I can go in and ask if they will order two different types of chair which they did I then picked one and bough it, not only was this not a bother to them they even matched the cheapest internet price for the chair I chose, David and the guys in FTB frequently bend over backwards to go that extra mile to help folk out. I'm not sponsored by any of the above companies everything I have on the bank with me is something I’ve paid out my own pockets for it. If you have any specific questions about the fishing tackle I use then feel free to ask me in the comments below this video or you can come on over to my Facebook page and I will happily answer any questions you have   / dfsangling
