Buy your favourite Cookd Recipes in a box ! 👉https://shop.cookdtv.com/ Paneer Pollichathu Recipe: Paneer - 200 grams Salt - ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder - A Pinch Oil - 1 tbsp Curry Leaves - 1 Sprig Masala: Coconut Oil - 2 tbsp Shallots/Small Onion (sliced) - ¼ Cup Ginger (finely chopped) - 1 tsp Garlic (finely chopped) - 1 tbsp Green Chilli (chopped) - 1 tbsp Curry Leaves - 1 Sprig Red Chilli Powder - ½ tsp Coriander Powder - 1 tsp Turmeric Powder - A Pinch Black Pepper Powder - ¼ tsp Salt - ¼ tsp Tomato (finely chopped) - ½ Cup Coconut Milk (optional) - ¼ Cup Vinegar - ½ tsp Other Ingredients: Banana Leaf - As Needed Curry Leaves - 1 Sprig Oil - ½ tsp Cooking Instructions: Frying the Paneer 1. Cut the paneer into thick slices. Coat it with salt and turmeric powder. 2. Heat oil in a pan, preferably non-stick. Add curry leaves to prevent sticking. Add the paneer and fry it for 30 seconds on each side. Remove it from the pan. Masala 1. You can continue making the masala in the same pan. Add the shallots, ginger, garlic, curry leaves and green chilli. Saute until the shallots turn translucent. 2. Add all the spice powders and salt. Add the tomatoes and saute until it turns mushy. 3. Add the coconut milk and vinegar. Saute just until it turns into a thick paste. Set aside. Making the Paneer Pollichathu 4. Heat the banana leaf over a direct flame to make it flexible and to prevent tearing. 5. Add some curry leaves to the banana leaf. Spoon some of the prepared masala onto the centre of the banana leaf. Place the fried paneer on it and then cover it again with more masala. Fold in the sides of the leaf and tie it tightly using a banana fiber/kitchen twine. 6. Heat oil in a pan/tawa and place the paneer. Sprinkle some water on the sides, cover and cook for 5 minutes, flipping halfway through. Cooking Tips: If you don’t have banana leaf, you can use banana leaf. You can also use a good quality baking paper/parchment paper and bake it in the oven for 10 minutes. Stay connected with us!
