(9 Aug 2017) Police engaged opposition protesters in Nairobi on Wednesday as violent protests erupted across the the capital and elsewhere following opposition leader Raila Odinga's allegation of fraud in the election the day before. In the Methare slum, police could be seen firing tear gas at protesters who threw the canisters back toward them. Protesters in the slum set up road blocks of burning tyres and stones soon after Odinga spoke on television and said hackers used the identity of a murdered official to infiltrate the database of the country's election commission and manipulate the results.
