Heavy fog continues to envelop cities in north and central China, leading to expressway closures and flight delays. North China’s Tianjin Municipality issued a yellow alert for fog and an orange alert for smog on Monday. The heavy fog reduced visibility to less than 500 meters and even to 200 meters on some sections. The fog also shrouded most parts of north China’s Hebei Province, which issued an orange alert at 5:00 on Tuesday. The dense fog led to the closure of expressways in eight cities, including provincial capital Shijiazhuang, together with Baoding and Xingtai, as visibility plunged to less than 200 meters. Henan Province has witnessed heavy fog weather for several days. The provincial meteorological bureau continued to issue an orange alert at 5:30 on Tuesday. Xinzheng International Airport in Zhengzhou has suspended its service since 22:30 on Monday, with over 300 flights canceled or delayed. Authorities also limited the number of vehicles on the roads.
