Ontario Premier Doug Ford on new long-term care home, COVID-19 reopening – July 15, 2021

At a construction site in Toronto, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announces his government is building a new long-term care home in the Runnymede neighbourhood of the city. He is joined by Rod Phillips, Ontario’s minister of long-term care, and Connie Dejak, the president and CEO of Runnymede Healthcare Centre. The home is expected to open in the summer of 2023 and will provide 200 care spaces. The announcement comes one day before Ontario enters the third step of its COVID-19 reopening plan, which will see a return to indoor dining, indoor fitness activity, and the reopening of movie theatres. Premier Ford answers questions about the reopening as well as his government’s overall response to the pandemic.
