Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson is pushing for road-blocks on the Great Ocean road under a radical plan to stop rogue holiday makers spreading the coronavirus in a bid to reinforce the message to “stay home this Easter”. The Great Ocean Road is a major tourist icon and one of Australia’s most famous roads. Ms Henderson said “a couple of weekends ago we saw an onslaught of visitors and holiday makers coming to our region right along the Great Ocean Road”. “Frankly it’s just too much for police to go around and police every nook and cranny,” she told Sky News host Peter Gleeson. “Many people from the reports I have received today are continuing to breach the restrictions and I believe road blocks on the Great Ocean road not only allow police to stop anyone travelling who does not have a legitimate purpose but it also sends a very strong message… to stay at home,” Ms Henderson said.
